History of Marske Vets

Marske Vets Ltd, is a mainly small animal 1st and 2nd opinion ophthalmic referral veterinary surgery.
Mr. James Haddow qualified in 1980 from Glasgow University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. He started working in mixed animal practices in Kirkby Lonsdale, moved to Scotland then to Wales before moving to Marske. He gained his certificate in veterinary ophthalmology from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1997.

The original premises for Marske Veterinary Surgery was based at 45 High Street, the shop previously being a gent's hairdresser's, started life as a Vets almost 30 years ago, and has been serving the local community ever since.
Initially the surgery was a branch practice, it then became an independant surgery in 1989 when the practice was taken over by James Haddow.

It was a single-handed mainly small animal unit, with enthusiastic staff and clients and poor equipment.
In 1994 we went computerised, being the first practice in the UK to adopt the Jupiter Systems Computer System (now one of the leading computer experts in the UK), which helps us manage the records of over 40,000 pets!

Over the next 17 years it built up in size and reputation, and with increasing numbers of clients, staff and new equipment the premises became too small to hold every one.

The search Begins.

In 2005, after a long period searching for the perfect location and building the new premises became available. A former car dealer’s the very fetching yellow and lime green garage was signed over to the eager hands of James in April 2006. After months of architects meetings and planning permission work begins.
